NSW Parliament Launches Inquiry into Arts and Music Education and Training
We celebrate the NSW Parliament's establishment on 4 June of a Joint Select Committee on Arts and Music Education and Training as a potential breakthrough for better, smarter, more creative, and more fulfilling education for NSW school student.
This inquiry is a significant step in progressing the NSW Government’s election commitment to quality, sequential and ongoing music education. Ministers Prue Car and John Graham are to be congratulated for their efforts to date in honouring those commitments.
Music Education: Right from the Start, a national collaboration led by Alberts | The Tony Foundation, has been working with the music industry, educators, researchers, philanthropy, teacher unions, and policy makers to ensure every primary school student has access to quality music education.
Emily Albert, Executive Director at Alberts and head of this initiative, said, "We are heartened not only by the Government’s commitment to this inquiry, but by the support for delivering quality music education across the whole of the Parliament.
We are particularly encouraged that this inquiry is not about making the arguments for music education yet again but focuses on examining what is needed to ensure its delivery in NSW schools."
